Gallery

Creating the Block

  1. Add the Gallery block to your editor using the ‘+’ button on the top left of the editor.
  2. Click the pencil icon on the block to switch to edit mode.
  3. Select ‘Add Image’ to browse the Media Library. (Guide on uploading to the Media Library).
  4. Add up to three images in a block. If you add the max of three, they will each appear as one-third of the row. If only two images area added, you may select how they will be displayed in the block settings. (One Third/Two Thirds, Two Thirds/One Third, or Half/Half)
  5. If you have more than three images you want to display, simply add another ‘Gallery’ block to create another row of images below.
  6. You may also add a short description in the text box which will appear as a caption when hovering over the image.

Tips & Good practices

  • Make sure to resize & optimize images for this block before uploading it to the WordPress Media Library. Use Web Services’ Optimizer to do this easily.
  • Choose strong images that represent the content of your site and page.

Bad Practices

  • Do not add too much text in the text box. If it’s too long part of it may be cut off.
  • Do not add an excessive amount of photos to any page. Dixie’s website is not meant to be used as a storage space or photo repository.
